I had this a year ago at a friends house and was instantly obsessed… then I found out what is actually in what is formally called Butter Rice and cried. It calls for a whole stick of butter … yea a whole stick. So I was like NOPE! Gotta be another way and lo and behold here it is! Contrary to the picture, you do not need actual onions! It is so tasty and easy … this is going to be a fall and winter staple in my apartment!!!
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 cup rice (I use brown rice)
- 1 and 3/4 cup water
- 1 packet of french onion soup/dip mix
- instant pot
- add ingredients to instant pot and give it a stir
- close lid and seal, cook on high pressure for 22 minutes and allow 10 minutes natural pressure release
